The Association for the Defense of the Rights of Internally Displaced Persons in Israel works to research and defend the rights of internally displaced Palestinians in Israel. IDPs constitute some 250,000 of the Palestinians living in Israel, or around one quarter of the total Palestinian population inside the Green Line. The Association’s goal is to work to return displaced Palestinians within the Green Line to the villages and homes from which they were expelled, in accordance with United Nations Resolution 194.
The Association works towards this goal through research; community and grassroots activities which bind new generations to their homes and villages of origin; lobbying Arab and Jewish Israeli political parties to place this issue on their agendas; networking with other Palestinian refugee bodies; and through international awareness-raising.
The Association is seeking a volunteer for the position of fundraising officer. English fluency and fundraising experience are necessary. A working knowledge of Arabic is preferable, but not necessary.
A minimum commitment of 6 months is required, beginning in May 2005. The Association will pay a volunteer stipend, and provide accommodation and health insurance.
