Goals

To achieve equality and to fulfill the needs of the Arab Palestinian minoirty within Israel. This should be achieved by development, health, social and economic development among individuals and as an ethnic, indigenous community that lives upon its own land.

Main Activities

  • The Databank Department: Activities of this departmnet include the creation of a computerized relational database, which when completed, will provide users with detailed information on the conditions of the Arab minority in Israel;
  • The Environment Department: Current projects include research and litigation on damaging environmental development in the Galilee; the initiation and coordination of a coalition of five Arab and Jewish environmental organizations to strengthen environmental monitoring, advocacy, and awareness, and educational programs in middle schools and environmental camps;
  • The Heatlh Promotion and Educatioin Department: Projects include women's health education and awareness programs, study governmental health policies, and public health campaigns; and the creation of 'health profiles' of Arab villages, and a survey on Arab children with special needs;
  • The Negev Department: Projects include the operation of a mobile clinic which provides health services to some 2000 Arab Bedouin residents of the unrecognized villages in the Negav, Bedouin women's health education, first aid community education, early childhood education, advocacy initiatives (which have included the 1997 case filed with al-Tafula and Adalah resulting in a Supreme Court order to establish Mother & Child clinics in six unrecognized villages);
  • Research & Development Center: Research targeting problems faced by local inhabitants, contracted research, lab services, educational services and consulting services;
  • Appropriate Technology Consortium: Involving regional and international cooperation to establish low-cost, efficient and replicable wastewater treatment.
