About the
Galilee Center for Social Research
The GCSR was established as a professional, non-profit
non-governmental institute registered in 1988
by a group of Palestinian academics from Israeli
and West Bank universities. The founders of GCSR
saw an extraordinary need for a research center
which would design, coordinate and conduct empirical
research on the Arab community in Israel with
the aim of educating and empowering this community
to address and ameliorate interrelated social,
economic, political and cultural problems it confronts.
It also deals with general Palestinian issues
and acts as a bridge between the different Palestinian
communities. Much of its work involves projects
and cooperation with other NGOs in Israel and
abroad.
