| About Al Aqsa Association
Al-Aqsa Association was founded in 1991 by Muslim activists form the Triangle Area in Israel headed by Sheikh Kamel Rayan, with the aim to preserve the large number of damaged and destroyed Islamic holy sites in Israel. The association bears the name of the Al Aqsa Mosque, the holiest Islamic site in Israel and one of the holiest places for Muslims worldwide. Since 2002, Al-Aqsa Association is a member of the Islamic High Council for Relief and Dawa , and a representative of the Islamic High Council in the holy land. Al-Aqsa Association greatly stresses the peaceful nature of Islam and supports tolerance and cooperation between the world religions.
Goals
- To return Islamic holy property in Israel under Muslim administration;
- To rehabilitate, restore and renovate damaged, deteriorated and destroyed Islamic holy sites in Israel;
- To protect Christian property in Israel;
- To preserve and re-establish Islamic culture in Israel, and to gain recognition and equality with the Jewish religion.
Activities
- Renovation and rehabilitation of Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem;
- Restoration, renovation and rehabilitation of six mosques in Jaffa and Herzliya that had been closed and neglected since 1948;
- Cleaning of tens of neglected, profaned and abused cemeteries all over Israel;
- Supervision and protection of six formerly neglected churches in the Galilee;
- An extensive survey and computerized archiving of all Islamic holy sites in Israel;
- Organization of day trips to the Al Aqsa mosque for Muslims from Arab cities and villages all over Israel.
